The collaboration with eng. Guido Gay, owner of Fondazione AzioneMare and robot manufacturer and pilot, is extremely valuable as it allows to expand the research field of underwater archeology, investigating sunken wrecks at depths not reachable except with his abyssal ROVs.

The collaboration was born in the summer of 2019 on the Dae37 wreck, a Roman boat with a large cargo of marble sunk a few miles northwest of the island of Gorgona, at a depth of 280 m.  In 2020, the archaeological mission envisaged the recovery of two types of Dressel 2-4 amphorae from the wreck to allow an easier and more analytical study; the amphorae, landed in Capraia for the desalination and conservation operations by the restorer Nawal Menad, were also measured and documented with the photogrammetric technique.
Furthermore, a mission on a second wreck, the Dae27, off the island of Pianosa has been realized. The conformation of this context, with a perfectly intact cargo - which is very rare due to the impact of trawling which spares nothing up to a thousand meters - of Dressel 1 amphorae, tiles and bent tiles, has allowed the documentation of a rare and perfectly preserved archaeological site inside a pit at a depth of 640 m.

The surveys were carried out with the use of the Multipluto abyssal ROV, which, through a remote-controlled navigation, documented the wrecks with parallel and overlapping strips; the photogrammetry was then carried out through the extrapolation and alignment of hundreds of frames from the video, in order to obtain a scaled and measurable three-dimensional model of the cargo.
